Maranhão reports 443 missing persons in 2025

A report from the National Public Security Secretariat (Senasp) indicates that Maranhão recorded 443 missing persons in 2025. This represents a 0.45% change compared to 2024, though the report notes that the 2025 data covers the entire state, whereas 2024 data only included the capital and its metropolitan region.

Despite the change in reporting scope, Maranhão maintained the lowest missing persons rate among Brazilian states, at 6.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Of the 443 cases, 270 involved men (60.9%) and 173 involved women (39.1%). The majority of those missing were adults between the ages of 18 and 59, accounting for 316 cases.
