Marano di Napoli waste workers strike over unpaid wages

Waste management workers in Marano di Napoli have proceeded with a strike following a failed mediation attempt at the Naples Prefecture. The strike, organized by unions including FP Cgil, Fit Cisl, and Fiadel, was triggered by delays in salary payments and ticket reimbursements, as well as concerns regarding service management.

During a meeting convened by Prefect Michele di Bari, the service provider, Marano Ambiente, attributed payment delays to corporate restructuring. While the company claimed that salaries have since been paid and transfers for tickets have been initiated, union representatives maintained the strike action.

To mitigate the impact, the company has committed to providing essential services at sensitive locations such as schools and barracks, and has scheduled extraordinary collection services to address the backlog. However, street sweeping remains a critical issue in several areas of the city.
