Marash Kumbulla linked with Rayo Vallecano as Spanish clubs show interest

Albanian defender Marash Kumbulla, 26, is under contract with AS Roma until 2028 and has become a focus of La Liga clubs. Rayo Vallecano has moved ahead of Elche and Levante in pursuing the central defender, with negotiations ongoing on a possible loan or permanent transfer.

Kumbulla, who spent the 2023‑24 season on loan at Mallorca where injuries limited him to ten matches, also said he has not closed the door on a return to RCD Espanyol. He highlighted his good relationship with Espanyol coach Manolo González and expressed comfort with Spanish football, keeping all options open for the upcoming pre‑season.

Both clubs are weighing Kumbulla’s experience in Serie A and previous La Liga spells as they seek to strengthen their defensive lines ahead of the new season.
