Maratea conference examines regional autonomy and Titolo V reform

A conference hosted by the Conference of Presidents of the Legislative Assemblies of the Regions and Autonomous Provinces is currently taking place in Maratea, Italy. Initiated by Marcello Pittella, President of the Basilicata Regional Council, the event focuses on evaluating the 25-year impact of the Titolo V constitutional reform and discussing the future of regional autonomy.

During the opening panel, Maratea Mayor Cesare Albanese emphasized the importance of regional legislative assemblies in translating public policies into concrete actions regarding healthcare, environment, infrastructure, and sustainable development.

Environmental Councilor Laura Mongiello addressed the relationship between differentiated autonomy and fiscal federalism, stating that these processes must maintain national cohesion and guarantee essential levels of assistance and equal citizenship rights across the entire Republic. The discussions highlight the strategic role of legislative assemblies as primary venues for high-quality legislation developed in close contact with citizens.
