Marathón and Juticalpa FC face sanctions from Concacaf and FIFA
Concacaf has imposed a $6,400 fine on the Honduran club Marathón following five infractions during the first leg of the Central American Cup quarterfinals against Costa Rica's Liga Deportiva Alajuelense. The violations occurred at the Francisco Morazán Stadium on September 10.
The sanctions include $3,000 for lighting failures in the stadium towers, $700 for internet connectivity issues that hindered VAR operations, $2,000 for fan misconduct involving objects thrown onto the pitch, and $700 for unauthorized advertising by a player. The disciplinary committee noted that the decision is not subject to appeal.
Separately, FIFA has issued a sanction against Juticalpa FC, prohibiting the club from registering new players—both national and international—for six transfer periods. This ban stems from outstanding financial obligations and unpaid commitments to players, including Colombian footballer Luis Hurtada.
