Marathón and Real España draw 1-1 in San Pedro Sula derby

Marathón and Real España played to a 1-1 draw in the 'clásico sampedrano' during the fourth round of the 2026-2027 Apertura tournament at the Yankel Rosenthal Stadium in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Nicolás Messiniti scored for Marathón in the 13th minute, capitalizing on a low cross to give the home side an early lead. Real España managed to equalize in the 66th minute when Darixon Vuelto scored with a powerful left-footed shot from outside the penalty area.

The result allows both clubs to maintain their undefeated streaks at the start of the championship. Both teams entered the match with seven points from their first three matches.
