Marathón takes Liga Nacional lead after defeating Olimpia
Marathón has taken the lead in the Honduran Liga Nacional Apertura 2026 tournament following a 1-0 victory over Olimpia in the Clásico Nacional at the Morazán Stadium in San Pedro Sula. The decisive goal was scored by captain Henry Figueroa in the 82nd minute with a header.
The match was highly contentious, featuring multiple yellow cards and two red cards. Olimpia’s Emanuel Cuello was sent off in the 54th minute, and Marathón’s Brian Farioli received a red card late in the game, leaving both sides with 10 players for the final stretch.
