Marathon Steam player count falls below 1,000 amid new update
Bungie’s extraction shooter, Marathon, has seen its concurrent player count on Steam fall below 1,000 for the first time, reaching a low of 987 players on August 24. This represents a significant decline from its all-time Steam peak of 88,337 players following its March launch. While Sony recently stated during its July 31 financial results presentation that the game has maintained a high user retention rate following the release of Season 2, recent data shows a downward trajectory in daily peaks.
In response to ongoing gameplay issues, Bungie released version 1.1.5.5 on August 25. This update focuses on fixes for the Ordnance Heist mode, including resolving issues with UESC Manifest sharing and adjusting loot distributions for Firestorm Locker Keys, implants, and cores. The patch also addressed an exploit in the Cryo Archive that allowed players to continuously gain XP and MIDA reputation.
