Marathons in Ibagué and Panama City trigger road closures

Major marathons scheduled for Sunday, September 20, will cause significant road closures in Ibagué, Colombia, and Panama City, Panama.

In Ibagué, the Media Maratón Musical 2026 will feature 21K, 10K, and 5K races. Starting at 6:00 a.m. from Parque Murillo Toro, the route includes the city center, Carrera Quinta, and the road to Cañón del Combeima. Authorities recommend using alternative routes due to temporary modifications in these sectors.

In Panama City, the inaugural Panama City Marathon will involve approximately 2,000 athletes from 30 countries. Road restrictions are set to begin as early as Saturday, September 19, at 11:00 p.m., with full closures in areas such as San Francisco, Punta Pacífica, and Paitilla starting in the early hours of Sunday. Specific closures include the Multiplaza Viaduct and various streets in the Atlapa and Paitilla sectors. Local authorities and police are coordinating the traffic operations.
