Maravilha car accident leaves newborn and pregnant woman injured

An 18-day-old infant was taken to the emergency room for medical evaluation following a vehicle collision in Maravilha, Santa Catarina. The accident, which occurred on a Saturday night, involved a Toyota Hilux and a Chevrolet Onix.

According to the Military Fire Department, the newborn was secured in a car seat and was removed from the vehicle by bystanders before emergency teams arrived. At the time of assessment, the baby was sleeping and showed no apparent injuries.

Other victims included a 39-year-old pregnant woman, approximately 36 weeks along, who was driving the Hilux; she was taken to the hospital for evaluation. A 5-year-old child also sustained facial abrasions and was treated at the emergency room, along with a 34-year-old woman suspected of having a traumatic brain injury.
