Marbella council approves multimillion‑euro urbanisation projects in Las Dunas and Virgen de la Vega

The Marbella municipal government approved licences for two urban‑development schemes at its Tuesday meeting. The main project covers more than 160,000 m² in the Las Dunas sector of Las Chapas, linked to hotel development and involving dune regeneration, coastal‑front protection, new drainage, a bridge to the Golden Beach area, bike lanes, pedestrian zones and upgraded utilities. The council said the work will cost €23.5 million, funded by the developers, and will include over a kilometre of storm‑water collectors, new electricity, sanitation and telecommunications networks.

In the same session, the council also approved plans to revamp the surroundings of the Hermitage of the Virgen de la Vega and to urbanise Calle Puente. Mayor Ángeles Muñoz, councilor Diego López and district director Carlos Alcalá presented the proposals and confirmed the initiatives will improve public services and preserve local biodiversity.
