Marbella expands luxury hotel sector with major brand arrivals
Marbella is strengthening its position as a premier luxury destination in Andalusia through the development of five major hotel projects. High-end international brands, including Marriott, Four Seasons, and Waldorf Astoria, are expanding their presence in the city.
One notable project involves the Marriott group, which plans to operate an ultra-luxury St. Regis resort in the Las Dunas sector. Developed by Platinum Estates and Sierra Blanca Estates with an investment of approximately 500 million euros, the complex is expected to begin construction before the end of the year, with a projected opening in 2031.
Local tourism officials attribute this influx of investment to the city's high profitability and the progressive reduction of seasonality. Data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) indicates that Marbella's hotel profitability exceeds that of other major Spanish destinations such as Mallorca, Barcelona, and Madrid. Additionally, average room prices have seen significant growth since 2021.
