Marbella increases spending on underground waste container maintenance

The Marbella City Council has formalized a new contract for the maintenance and cleaning of underground waste containers. The contract was awarded to Sulo Ibérica S.A., the same private company that has provided the service since 2021.

While the previous contract was valued at approximately €1.85 million for four years (extendable to €2.3 million), the new agreement significantly increases public expenditure. The new contract amounts to €4,657,277 over four years, with annual costs rising to €1,164,319. The municipality noted that the cost increase is partly due to an increase in the number of installations, which now totals 634 units across various waste categories, including organic, packaging, glass, paper, and cardboard.
