Marbella municipality to lease public land for private hospital

The Marbella City Council, led by Mayor Ángeles Muñoz, has launched a tender to lease 3,422 square meters of public land for the construction and operation of a private hospital in the Las Chapas area. The land, located near the Cilniana Institute in the Santa Clara Golf urbanization, is classified as public social equipment with a cadastral value of over 1.2 million euros.

The proposed concession is set for a duration of 75 years, with a minimum annual fee stipulated at 160,677.29 euros. While the tender specifies that the facility must function as a hospital rather than a general clinic or medical center, it does not predetermine a specific list of medical specialties or diagnostic equipment beyond legal requirements.

Local discussions have noted the proximity of the new proposed site to the Hospital Universitario Costa del Sol, though the municipality justifies the project as a response to growing local demand for healthcare facilities.
