Marbella targets European tech hub status

Marbella, long known as a luxury resort for wealthy Europeans and an occasional safe haven for fugitives, is repositioning itself as a year‑round base for founders and investors. Business centre The Pool, led by CEO Christian Rasmussen, says the city wants to shift from a leisure destination to “Europe’s Silicon Valley,” adding co‑working spaces and office buildings along the Golden Mile. Real‑estate reports note a post‑pandemic influx of younger buyers from the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Germany, the Netherlands and a growing share from the United States, Canada, Poland and Gulf states seeking to live and work full‑time.

Developers are creating branded residences, such as the Nadal‑Armani mansion project, and attracting global brands to open gyms, hotels and restaurants comparable to those in New York or Monaco. Artur Loginov, CEO of Drumelia, highlights the rise in new amenities and foreign investment. The Marbella council is supporting the plan with visits by the mayor to China and the United States and by promoting the city as an entry point to Europe, while expanding international schools and modern infrastructure to suit professional families.
