Marbella's La Bajadilla port expansion awarded to Marina Internacional

The Junta de Andalucía has awarded the concession for the expansion of the La Bajadilla port in Marbella to the temporary business union (UTE) Marina Internacional. This decision unblocks a major infrastructure project that has faced legal and administrative hurdles since 2011.

The project involves an estimated investment of over 200 million euros and a 40-year concession period. The expansion aims to nearly triple the port's capacity, increasing the number of berths from 268 to approximately 750. The new facilities will accommodate larger vessels, including yachts up to 70 meters in length, and will include a commercial area, fishing spaces, a shipyard, and 1,000 parking spaces.

Key construction works include a 1.13-kilometer main breakwater, a 450-meter secondary breakwater, and a pier to manage the Primero stream. The plan also incorporates environmental measures, such as sand transfers to local beaches. The new concessionaire is expected to take charge of the facilities on January 1.
