Marc-André ter Stegen faces criticism after Ajax loss to PSV
Marc-André ter Stegen is facing criticism following Ajax Amsterdam's 1-3 defeat against PSV Eindhoven. The 34-year-old goalkeeper, who joined Ajax on loan from FC Barcelona this summer, experienced his first loss after five matches.
While analysts noted that ter Stegen was largely unable to prevent the goals, ESPN expert Hans Kraay Jr. criticized the goalkeeper's perceived lack of urgency. Kraay specifically pointed to footage where ter Stegen appeared to stand still with the ball at his feet for extended periods, stating, “I have the impression he thinks everything is fine.”
In contrast, former goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus defended the German international, describing him as the “best footballer in the team” and expressing satisfaction that a star of his caliber is playing in the Eredivisie.
