Marc-Andre ter Stegen set to join Ajax on loan from Barcelona

German goalkeeper Marc‑Andre ter Stegen is on the brink of completing a season‑long loan move from FC Barcelona to AFC Ajax. Both clubs are finalising the remaining fiscal and administrative paperwork, and the player has been granted permission to miss Barcelona’s training sessions as the deal enters its last stage.

The loan offers ter Stegen a fresh start after a disrupted spell at Girona that cost him a place in Germany’s World Cup squad. Ajax’s new head coach Michel, who previously worked with the keeper at Girona, has pushed for the agreement, seeing him as a potential key figure for the Dutch side once he regains full match fitness.
