German news presenters Marc Bator and Maik Meuser announce departures

Several prominent German television news presenters are changing roles or leaving their current stations.

Marc Bator is departing Sat. 1 after approximately 13 years as an anchor for the news format :newstime. Bator, who previously worked for the Tagesschau, stated he is leaving on his own request to focus on his professional involvement and business in professional cycling. Sat. 1 will continue with its existing moderation team, including Claudia von Brauchitsch, Angela van Brakel, Jule Gölsdorf, and Stephanie Puls.

Maik Meuser is leaving RTL after ten years with the broadcaster. Meuser, who has been part of the RTL moderation team since 2016 and hosted programs such as Nachtjournal and RTL aktuell, will move to the public broadcaster WDR. He is scheduled to begin moderating the information magazine Aktuelle Stunde at the start of 2027. This move will also lead to a shift in responsibilities at WDR, as long-time moderator Martin von Mauschwitz will focus more on WDR aktuell.
