Marc Cucurella transfers from Chelsea to Real Madrid

Marc Cucurella moved from Chelsea to Real Madrid in a deal reportedly worth €55 million (£47.5 m) plus add‑ons, signing a six‑year contract that runs to 2032 after rapid negotiations involving newly appointed manager José Mourinho.

The transfer leaves Chelsea with a vacancy at left‑back. Manager Xabi Alonso is reportedly considering several replacements, including former academy graduate Lewis Hall (Newcastle United), Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, Manchester City’s Rayan Ait‑Nouri and Sporting Lisbon winger Maxi Araujo, among other options.

Reactions to the move were swift. Chelsea captain Reece James said he was “devastated to see him go”, while Cucurella explained the difficulty of rejecting Madrid, stating, “When Real Madrid wants you, it’s very difficult to turn them down. It has a mystique… I’m very happy with this decision.”
