Real Madrid to sign Chelsea left‑back Marc Cucurella for around €60 million

Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement to sign Spain international left‑back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea. The deal, reported by Fabrizio Romano who posted “Here we go!”, is expected to be finalized after the 2026 World Cup, with an estimated fee of €55 million plus €5 million in add‑ons, roughly €60 million.

The transfer was requested by new manager José Mourinho, who wants a reliable left‑back to replace the injured Ferland Mendy and other options. Cucurella, 27, is currently with the Spanish squad at the World Cup and will move to the Santiago Bernabéu after the tournament. The signing follows recent Real Madrid acquisitions of Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva, completing a broad squad overhaul.

Other clubs, notably Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, had shown interest, but Real Madrid secured the agreement first. Chelsea will receive the agreed fee and will retain a few other players, while Cucurella returns to Spain after stints at Brighton, Eibar, Getafe and Chelsea.
