Marc Darcy store fire forces road closures in Salford

A large fire broke out in the early hours of 6 August 2026 at the Marc Darcy menswear outlet on Bury New Road in Salford, Greater Manchester. The blaze engulfed the 50‑metre‑by‑50‑metre commercial property, producing thick black smoke and prompting a multi‑agency response that included eight fire engines, a turntable ladder and high‑volume pumps from several nearby stations.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service kept the fire under control through the night, but the incident forced the closure of Bury New Road and nearby streets such as Upper Camp Street and Fenney Street. Residents were advised to keep windows and doors shut and to avoid the area. Marc Darcy announced that it could not accept new orders until the premises are restored, apologising for the inconvenience to customers.
