Marc Márquez wins Aragon Grand Prix to close gap on Jorge Martín

Marc Márquez achieved a perfect weekend at the 2026 Aragon Grand Prix, securing victories in both the Sprint race and the main Grand Prix. Despite an early error where he forgot to deactivate his ride height device, Márquez managed to overtake Marco Bezzecchi on the sixth lap to take the lead. He ultimately finished the main race with a 1.754-second margin over Pedro Acosta.

This dominant performance has significantly reshaped the MotoGP 2026 championship standings. Márquez has moved up to second place in the general classification with 237 points, leaving him just 19 points behind the leader, Jorge Martín. Marco Bezzecchi, who finished third in both sessions, sits in third place with 232 points.

Jorge Martín, currently leading the championship, expressed satisfaction with his fifth-place finish at a difficult circuit, stating he will “fight for this World Championship until the end.” Ducati's chief engineer, Gigi Dall'Igna, praised Márquez's comeback, noting, “That is the champion. A champion is made like this.”
