Ducati revamps lineup: Bagnaia to Aprilia, Acosta joins Marc Márquez

Ducati announced a major rider reshuffle for the 2027‑2028 MotoGP seasons. Two‑time world champion Francesco Bagnaia will leave the Ducati Lenovo Team at the end of 2026 after eight seasons and sign a four‑year contract with Aprilia Racing, where he will partner Marco Bezzecchi on the RS‑GP. The move follows Bagnaia’s 31 race wins, 62 podiums and two titles that ended Ducati’s 15‑year title drought.

At the same time, Ducati confirmed that 22‑year‑old Spanish talent Pedro Acosta will replace Bagnaia as Marc Márquez’s teammate starting in 2027, signing a two‑year deal. Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali said Acosta is “one of the most talented young riders in MotoGP” and that his pairing with Márquez provides “the ideal complement for a team that wants to remain a dominant force”. General Manager Luigi Dall’Igna added that Acosta’s “precociousness and speed” will boost the development of the Desmosedici GP.

Márquez also extended his own contract with Ducati through 2028, securing continuity ahead of the new 850 cc technical regulations that will debut in 2027. The announcements come as MotoGP Group signed a five‑year grid contract covering 2027‑2031, stabilising the premier‑class line‑up for the next half‑decade.
