Marc Márquez finishes fourth in MotoGP practice at Spielberg

During the opening day of the Grand Prix of Austria in Spielberg, Marc Márquez of the Ducati Lenovo Team secured fourth place in the practice session. Márquez improved his performance throughout the session, finishing approximately two tenths of a second behind the fastest time. In contrast, Francesco Bagnaia finished eighteenth and will be required to compete in Q1.

Separately, Gresini Racing rider Fermín Aldeguer underwent a scheduled surgical procedure at the Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona to remove a screw from his left femur. The surgery follows a serious accident in January that required a nail to be placed in his leg. While the procedure was successful and Aldeguer has been discharged, he noted that pain may persist until the nail is removed at the end of the season. Aldeguer's season has been significantly impacted by various injuries, including a T7 vertebra fracture.
