Marc Márquez named Spain’s 2025 male athlete of the year

Marc Márquez has been named Spain’s male athlete of the year for 2025 by the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD). He received the prestigious ‘Premio Nacional del Deporte Rey Felipe’ in recognition of his extraordinary 2025 MotoGP season.

After years of struggling with severe injuries and multiple surgeries on his right arm following a 2020 accident, Márquez achieved a major comeback. Riding for the Ducati factory team, he secured his seventh premier class world title and ninth overall career title during the 2025 season, clinching the championship at the Japanese Grand Prix.

In the same awards cycle, Iris Tió was selected to receive the ‘Premio Reina Letizia’ following her performance in the World Artistic Swimming Championships, where she earned six medals.
