Max Gawn leads record All-Australian team selection
The AFL All-Australian team has been announced, highlighted by Melbourne captain Max Gawn earning a record ninth All-Australian blazer and being named captain of the representative side. The selection also featured a record five Indigenous players: Wayne Milera, Jarman Impey, Kysaiah Pickett, Shai Bolton, and Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.
Fremantle led the league with five selections, including Josh Treacy, Murphy Reid, Jordan Clark, Luke Jackson, and Shai Bolton. Despite the individual honors, Treacy noted the team's primary focus remains on their upcoming qualifying final against Hawthorn.
Adelaide captain Jordan Dawson was named All-Australian vice-captain and received the AFL Players Association awards for best captain and most courageous player. Dawson spoke emotionally about his personal struggles following the death of his brother, Jaryd, earlier this year, using his platform to advocate for mental health awareness.
