Marc Puigtió resigns from all political posts following audio scandal

Marc Puigtió, the former ERC candidate for the mayoralty of Girona and former mayor of Sant Julià de Ramis, has resigned from all his political positions. His departure follows the leak of audio recordings in which he allegedly admitted to wanting to remove current Girona councilors and stated he was using the ERC logo for personal economic interest.

The scandal has led to significant repercussions within the local political landscape. Critics and local groups, such as Som Poble 1972 de Medinyà, have celebrated the resignation, stating that personal interests must not take precedence over public institutions. They emphasized that such unethical conduct is incompatible with public service and reiterated a rejection of any cooperation with far-right political forces.

Puigtió's resignation also marks a collapse for the 'Militància Decidim' movement in Girona, which had previously attempted to influence party membership and influence local candidacies.
