Marc Rétali removed from Zidane's France staff
Marc Rétali, a specialist podiatrist, has been removed from the French national football team's staff led by Zinédine Zidane after only two days. Rétali was initially appointed on August 13 but was dismissed by the French Football Federation (FFF) on August 15.
The dismissal followed an interview Rétali gave to RMC Sport shortly after his appointment. The FFF cited a failure to respect a strict duty of reserve. However, Rétali has contested this, stating that he had not yet signed a formal contract at the time of the interview and characterized the decision as a “formal injustice.” He described the incident as a simple mistake of judgment rather than an intentional attempt to disclose confidential information.
Serge Isidoro has replaced Rétali on the medical staff. Rétali, who has two decades of experience with clubs like FC Sochaux and cycling teams such as Cofidis, expressed that the disproportionate measure of his removal was shocking.
