Marc Suárez creates 500kg wedding cake for Paris event

Spanish pastry chef Marc Suárez has created a massive 500-kilogram wedding cake designed for a Saudi family's wedding at the Opera Garnier in Paris. The structure stands 3.5 meters tall and 1.8 meters wide.

The project required approximately 1,800 hours of labor over a four-month production period, following a month and a half of conceptual design. Due to the scale of the work, Suárez collaborated with fellow pastry chefs and their families to hand-prepare, paint, and assemble 33,000 individual sugar paste petals used for decoration.

To maintain the structural integrity of the monumental design, only about 0.1% of the total weight consists of actual edible cake. The remainder of the sculpture is composed of hand-shaped sugar paste and white chocolate, allowing the piece to function as both a dessert and a large-scale decorative art installation.
