Marcao suffers injury 25 minutes into return for Sevilla

Sevilla defender Marcao suffered a new injury during his first appearance in 286 days. After being sidelined since December 2025, the Brazilian center-back started as captain in the Antonio Puerta Cup match against Aston Villa, but was forced to leave the pitch in the 25th minute.

Medical examinations revealed a myofascial problem affecting the muscle tissue and surrounding ligaments of his right quadriceps. Sevilla stated that a definitive return date will be determined based on the progress of his treatment.
