Marcel Barrena begins filming ‘Lo Vent’ in the Ebro Delta
Filming has commenced for ‘Lo Vent (El Viento)’, a new drama directed by Marcel Barrena. The production is being shot on the island of Buda within the Ebro Delta Natural Park, a significant European wetland threatened by rising sea levels.
Set in Catalan, the film is inspired by Gabi Martínez’s book ‘Delta’. The story follows Mateo, a traditional rice farmer fighting to maintain his connection to a territory facing disappearance. Barrena describes the film as a story of resistance, legacy, and the love for the land.
The cast features Eduard Fernández, Nora Navas, Greta Fernández, Francesc Orella, and Williams Bulambo. The project is produced by Imagina, with participation from Movistar Plus+, RTVE, and 3Cat. The production team includes several collaborators from Barrena’s previous work, ‘El 47’.
