Italian sprinter Marcell Jacobs, Olympic 100 m champion, headed a training camp in Rome from 30 July to 4 August as the Italian relay squads prepared for the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham (10‑16 August). The camp involved athletes for the men’s and women’s 4 × 100 m, 4 × 400 m and mixed relays, with participants drawn from clubs such as Fiamme Oro, Fiamme Gialle, Carabinieri and others.
