Marcel Keizer discusses mentoring Noussair Mazraoui at Ajax

Former Ajax coach Marcel Keizer has discussed the importance of providing personalized attention to young footballers, specifically regarding his time coaching Noussair Mazraoui at Jong Ajax.

Speaking on the podcast ‘Met Open Vizier’, Keizer noted that Mazraoui went through a difficult period where he was often closed off and difficult to reach. Keizer emphasized that effective mentorship does not always require lengthy conversations, but rather involves providing the right support at the right moments to help players stay on the correct path.

Keizer also highlighted the balance required in coaching, noting that while building a strong bond with players is essential for motivation, a coach must also maintain sufficient professional distance to lead effectively.
