Moldovan Parliament undergoes major committee leadership reshuffle

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has undergone a significant restructuring of its standing committees following requests from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS). Key leadership changes include the appointment of Marcel Spatari as the head of the Committee on Economy, Budget, and Finance. Additionally, Adrian Băluțel has assumed leadership of the Committee for European Integration and joined the Parliament's Permanent Bureau.

Other notable shifts include Iurie Levinschi being named vice-president of the Committee for Agriculture and Food Industry, and Ion Groza becoming vice-president of the Committee for Foreign Policy. The reorganization also affects various parliamentary delegations to international organizations, with Adrian Băluțel designated as co-chair of the Moldova-EU Parliamentary Association Committee.

Separately, the Ministry of Justice and UNICEF have signed a plan in Chișinău to enhance juvenile justice. The initiative focuses on specializing judicial personnel, strengthening cooperation between social and health services, and developing specialized support models like ‘Barnahus’ for children who are victims or witnesses of crime. The plan also emphasizes preventative measures and alternative sentencing for children in conflict with the law.
