Marcela Laiferová discusses finances and personal resilience

Slovak music icon and physician Marcela Laiferová has shared insights into her personal life, finances, and resilience. Despite her successful career and international recognition, Laiferová noted that she receives one of the lower pensions, making it difficult to survive solely on retirement benefits. She attributes her current financial stability to continued active work and the lifelong practice of building financial reserves.

Laiferová also reflected on significant personal hardships, including the loss of two husbands. Her first husband, Jaroslav Laifer, passed away at age forty due to medical complications, a loss that occurred while she was completing her medical studies. She later shared a 29-year partnership with Ladislav Zacharides. Now 81, Laiferová maintains an optimistic outlook on aging, emphasizing the importance of mental attitude and continued professional engagement.
