Gala Montes faces controversy after reality show exit and image change

Mexican actress Gala Montes is at the center of a growing controversy following her brief 48-hour return to the reality show ‘La Casa de los Famosos México’. While production claims she left voluntarily, Montes disputes this, alleging she was prevented from returning due to issues regarding hygiene products and staff interactions.

Her sudden departure and subsequent radical change in appearance—featuring an androgynous pixie cut—have sparked intense debate regarding her mental health. Influencer Poncho de Nigris expressed concern that Montes might be experiencing a psychotic break and suggested she needs professional intervention, a sentiment Montes met with aggressive rebuttals, accusing him of being intrusive.

Comedian Ricardo O'Farrill has defended Montes, urging the public to stop mocking her appearance. He explained that drastic aesthetic changes can be an unconscious attempt at reinvention during mental health crises, calling for empathy rather than ridicule. The situation has also involved threats directed at journalist Johanna Vega-Biestro, further escalating the public dispute.
