Marcelinho Carioca faces police-assisted vehicle seizure

A court in São Paulo has authorized the use of police force and forced entry to execute a vehicle seizure order against former Corinthians player Marcelinho Carioca. The order, issued by Judge Alfredo Gehring Cardoso Falchi Fonseca, follows unsuccessful attempts by court officials to locate the former athlete on August 31 and September 25.

The debt, totaling R$ 705,000, stems from a 1998 legal case involving the death of 17-year-old Cristiano Donizeti. The victim, the son of creditors Servio Machado and Pedra Batista, was killed at Marcelinho’s farm when he was trampled by a horse.

The court found Marcelinho liable for the accident, noting that the minor was inexperienced and had not received adequate training or supervision for high-risk tasks on the property. Having been convicted in all instances without the possibility of appeal, the former player is required to pay the indemnity, which has grown significantly from its original R$ 100,000 valuation over the last 28 years.
