Marcell Jacobs runs 9.96 seconds to place third at Paris Diamond League

Italian Olympic sprint champion Marcell Jacobs recorded a time of 9.96 seconds in the 100 m final at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Paris, securing third place. It was his second consecutive sub‑10 performance, improving on his 9.99-second fifth‑place finish at the Golden Gala in Rome earlier this month.

The race was won by United States sprinter Trayvon Bromell in 9.91 seconds, with fellow American Noah Lyles second in 9.92 seconds. Jacobs’ strong finish, aided by a late‑stage acceleration over competitors Jordan Anthony and Akani Simbine, moved him up the European seasonal rankings and strengthens his position as a favorite for the upcoming European Championships in Birmingham, where he will aim for a third straight title. His progress is attributed to the training programme run by former champion coach Paolo Camossi.
