Marcello Fois wins 64th Premio Campiello for ‘L’immensa distrazione’

Marcello Fois has won the 64th edition of the Premio Campiello for his novel ‘L’immensa distrazione’, published by Giulio Einaudi Editore. The winner was announced on October 3 at the Palazzo del Cinema in Venice, receiving 83 votes from the Jury of Three Hundred Anonymous Readers.

The novel follows the Manfredini family across several generations, primarily set in the Emilia region. Through the perspective of the recently deceased Ettore Manfredini, the story traces the family's evolution from a traditional farming background to an industrial empire, intertwining private family dynamics—alliances, silences, and conflicts—with the broader historical and social transformations of Italy.

Other award recipients include Matteo Ghisleri (Campiello Giovani), Nadeesha Uyangoda (Opera Prima), Domenico Starnone (Premio Fondazione Il Campiello), and Rosella Postorino and Daniele Mencarelli (Campiello Junior).
