Marcello Melo Jr. discusses Black protagonism in Brazilian audiovisual

Actor Marcello Melo Jr. highlighted the increasing importance of Black protagonists in Brazilian audiovisual media during the launch of the Globoplay series ‘Verônika com K’. The new production expands the ‘Afroverso’ universe created by José Júnior, which connects with the series ‘Arcanjo Renegado’.

Melo Jr., who leads ‘Arcanjo Renegado’, noted that the simultaneous presence of Black leads in central roles, such as himself and Roberta Rodrigues in ‘Verônika com K’, is the result of a long-standing struggle for representation.

Regarding the production schedule for ‘Arcanjo Renegado’, the actor announced that the fifth season is set to arrive in November, with the sixth season currently in production and the seventh season already approved.
