Marcelo Aguiar investigated for bodily injury after shooting in São Paulo

The Civil Police of São Paulo have updated a police report to include the crime of bodily injury in an investigation involving State Deputy Marcelo Aguiar (PL-SP). The investigation follows a firearm discharge at a nightclub in the Itaim Bibi district of São Paulo.

Presenter Fred Bruno was officially listed as a victim after being grazed by a bullet in his foot. Bruno reported pain and swelling and was referred to the Medical Legal Institute (IML) for examination.

Authorities are investigating multiple aspects of the incident. While one version suggests the deputy’s .380 caliber pistol discharged accidentally during a fall or a confrontation with patrons, investigators are also looking into whether the discharge was intentional. Additionally, police are examining whether Aguiar’s behavior toward women at the venue constitutes sexual harassment.

Aguiar was detained following the incident but released during the early hours of the morning. Due to his parliamentary immunity, the Civil Police have requested authorization from the Court of Justice to proceed with the investigation.
