Marcelo Díaz plays final Superclásico before retirement

Marcelo Díaz, captain of Universidad de Chile, participated in his final Superclásico against Colo Colo following his announcement of retirement from professional football. The veteran midfielder, known as ‘Carepato’, has a long history in this rivalry dating back to his debut in 2006.

Following the match at the Estadio Nacional, Díaz engaged in provocations against Colo Colo, including social media posts and posing with a banner dedicated to him by the Universidad de Chile supporters. The banner depicted a memorable play involving a confrontation with player Esteban Pavez. Despite the loss to Colo Colo, Díaz maintained his stance against the rival club during his farewell appearance.
