Flávio Bolsonaro campaign denies plans to privatize state companies

Following his first-round lead in the presidential election, Flávio Bolsonaro’s campaign is addressing conflicting reports regarding the privatization of state-owned enterprises. While economic coordinator Daniella Marques previously suggested that over 20 state companies, including Banco do Brasil, could be privatized, campaign official Adolfo Sachsida has explicitly denied plans to privatize Banco do Brasil, Caixa Econômica Federal, or Petrobras.

Sachsida stated that a potential government would focus on strengthening social programs like Bolsa Família and BPC while reducing bureaucracy and taxes. Meanwhile, economist Marcelo Kayath, a potential candidate for Finance Minister, has emphasized the need for technical competence and a collaborative team over a single ‘genius’ figure. Kayath argued that fiscal adjustments should be temporary and surgical, prioritizing economic growth and the preservation of social programs for the most vulnerable populations.
