Marcelo Melo exits Chengdu ATP 250 doubles quarterfinals

Brazilian tennis player Marcelo Melo and American partner Ryan Seggerman were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Chengdu, China. They lost to the third-seeded German duo, Jakob Schnaitter and Mark Wallner, in two tiebreak sets with scores of 7-6(4) and 7-6(7).

The match was characterized by strong serving, with no service breaks occurring throughout the contest. While Melo and Seggerman managed to save three match points in the second set to force a second tiebreak, they were unable to convert their own opportunities, ultimately losing on the first match point against them.

Melo noted that his partnership with Seggerman was formed hastily due to availability issues, making their run in the tournament a rapid adaptation to the fast playing conditions in Chengdu.
