Marcelo Morales receives three‑match ban in Copa Chile

The Chilean Football Tribunal de Disciplina handed Universidad de Chile defender Marcelo Morales a three‑match suspension after he was shown a second yellow card in the club’s 1‑0 loss to Unión La Calera in the Copa Chile. Morales had already served the first match of the sanction in the league game against Santiago Wanderers.

The ban means he will miss Universidad de Chile’s upcoming Copa Chile tie against San Felipe on 5 August, a fixture that could decide whether the side reaches the round of 16. The disciplinary action was triggered by Morales’ protests over a non‑called foul that he later referenced on social media.
