Marcha para Jesus events in Brazil see major celebration in Itacaré and funding cancellation in Acre

The Marcha para Jesus 2026 took place in Itacaré, Bahia from July 10 to 12, drawing thousands of faithful, residents and tourists. The three‑day program featured performances by prominent gospel artists such as Alex Kin, Valesca Mayssa, Cassiane and Theo Rubia, and was supported by the municipal government, the state tourism agencies and local authorities, highlighting the event’s role in promoting religious tourism in the region.

Separately, the Fundação de Cultura Elias Mansour (FEM) in Acre cancelled a public call that would have allocated R$2.4 million to organize the Marcha para Jesus in 21 municipalities. The cancellation, announced on June 14, was justified by electoral‑law restrictions and insufficient time to complete the selection process. The Ministry of Public Prosecutor’s Office in Acre also issued a recommendation to suspend all related actions, emphasizing the need to protect public resources and uphold transparency and secularism.

Both developments illustrate the contrasting fortunes of the Marcha para Jesus series in Brazil, with a large‑scale celebration in the south and a halted funding initiative in the north.
