Marche Chamber of Commerce promotes regional economy at Birmingham Athletics Championships

The Marche Chamber of Commerce utilized the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham to promote the Italian region's economic sectors, including design, fashion, and agri-food. Through the ‘Marche Soul of Training’ project, the organization engaged over 50 economic operators, including entrepreneurs, designers, and communicators, to establish international connections.

A primary focus of the initiative is the development of sports tourism. The Chamber aims to leverage the region's FIDAL-certified athletic facilities located in Ancona, Ascoli Piceno, Fano, Camerino, Pesaro, Porto San Giorgio, and San Benedetto del Tronto. These sites are being positioned to host international athletes and delegations for training camps, recovery, and preparation.

President Gino Sabatini noted that the initiative seeks to use sport as a driver for economic development and to help destagionalize the local tourism industry by attracting visitors outside of the traditional summer peak. Looking ahead, the Chamber is also evaluating an institutional presence at the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing.
