Marche opposition protests Alan Petrini's Corecom appointment
Opposition groups in the Marche Regional Council have criticized the appointment of Alan Petrini as president of Corecom Marche, alleging the decision undermines the independence of the regulatory body.
Minority council groups, including the Democratic Party, Five Star Movement, and others, issued a joint statement supporting concerns raised by the Order of Journalists of Marche. They claim the appointment was facilitated by a targeted modification of regional criteria implemented only months before the selection. Specifically, they allege a new derogation was introduced to bypass rules regarding the incompatibility of administrators from municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants.
Petrini currently serves as deputy mayor and assessor for Montegiorgio, a town below the 10,000-resident threshold, and was recently the provincial secretary for the Lega party in Fermo. Critics argue that rewriting the 2001 regional law to accommodate his position creates a dangerous institutional precedent and violates requirements for absolute independence from the political system.
