Latina school to undergo €645,000 asbestos floor replacement
The municipal council in Latina approved a €645,000 programme to replace all floor coverings in the Istituto Comprensivo Torquato Tasso on via Tasso. The project will remove the existing tiles that previously contained traces of asbestos, demolish the sub‑floors and install new, environmentally‑compliant materials. Work is scheduled to start during the summer break to avoid disrupting lessons, with the aim of delivering a safe, healthy learning environment for students, staff and families.
Vice‑mayor Massimiliano Carnevale said the funding allows a “structural and definitive response” to the earlier asbestos issue and that the accelerated administrative process will ensure the school reopens fully functional for the next academic year.
